Zune HD

Microsoft recently confirmed the existence of the sizzling attraction, Zune HD. Marketed as “portable perfection”, Zune HD is something more than just a multimedia storage device. The Zune HD, intended to compete with iPod Touch has many features that iPod Touch lacks and is expected to be a serious competition to iPod Touch. The striking features include OLED display, HD radio and HD video playback. Zune’s own features like photo viewer, games, Zune Pass music subscription will be continues in this product.

Zune HD will have Internet Explorer preloaded to support its Wi-Fi features like online streaming. Zune HD is fully touchscreen and features Zune Marketplace for music, movies and game downloads. Full-featured IE browser will feature a tap-to-zoom technology, an accelerometer and QWERTY keyboard. All websites will be viewed just as they seem on PC. The buzz is that Zune HD will feature NVIDIA Tegra chip which has never been used on such great scale before. Tegra chip is built with ARM11 processor and ultra low power-consuming GeForce GPU and HD video and audio processor. This architecture makes it a gaming handheld with a music player.It is not yet confirmed by Microsoft if Zune HD will act as a gaming handheld or not. But if it does, it could give it huge advantage over iPod Touch which is already leading the market.

Zune HD features HD radio with crystal clear reception due to integrated HD receiver. The access to HD radio stations is provided at no additional cost. The Zune HD is expected to come out later in 2009.
